13 Years With the Right Man

Today Dave and I "celebrated" our 13th anniversary. (By celebrated I mean that we worked grueling days, studied for exams, and took kids to the orthodontist.) I was going to post some cute wedding pictures and write something sappy for the occassion, but you know how it goes after 13 years! The stupid scanner on the computer refused to cooperate...there goes my pictures! (We didn't know about digital photos back then.) Ashley needs help with her math, but she doesn't want you to tell her what to do; the phone keeps ringing with telemarketers and political calls; Morgan doesn't feel good; and dinner is late. ( I sound like that country song!)

Well, it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place thatI'd rather be.
Well, it's two hearts,
And one dream,
I wouldn't trade it for anything!
And I ask the Lord every night,
For just another day in paradise

This is life in the real world, and I am so lucky to have you by my side! Even still, I feel a bit like Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Thank you for my happily ever after!

President Hinckley

June 23, 1910-January 27, 2008

“This is my prayer for all of us—'Lord, increase our faith.' Increase our faith to bridge the chasms of uncertainty and doubt. . . . Grant us faith to look beyond the problems of the moment to the miracles of the future. . . . Give us faith to do what is right and let the consequence follow.” --Gordon B. Hinckley

What a great example to all of us!
He will be missed.

So True!

My sister Nicole sent this list to me and I had to share. Welcome to my life. It is scary how true this is. (Especially the laminating and hand-sanitizing part. ;))

You might be a teacher if...

1. You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line. It's usually the same kid...not too hard to guess.

2. You get a secret thrill out of laminating something. No secret about it. I own my own laminator!

3. You walk into a store and hear the words, 'It's Ms./Mr. _______' and know you have been spotted.

4. You have 25 people that accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another. Or my favorite, Grandpa.

5. You can eat a multi-course meal in under twenty-five minutes.

6. You've trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day: lunch and planning period.

7. You start saving other people's trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom. Thanks, Karen, for all of the paper towel tubes. You're a lifesaver!

8. You believe the teacher's lounge should be equipped with a margarita machine. No, but a chocolate fountain would be okay.

9. You want to slap the next person who says 'Must be nice to work 8 to 4 and have summers off.' I can't even comment!!!

10. You believe chocolate is a food group. See #8.

11. You can tell if it's a full moon without ever looking outside.

12. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, 'Boy, the kids sure are mellow today.'

13. You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public. I would never do such a thing at the movies on Friday night.

14. You believe in aerial spraying of Ritalin! I think it would be a great enhancement to every school lunch.

15. You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.

16. You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children.

17. You can't pass the school supply aisle without getting at least five items. I need a support group.

18. You ask your friends if the left hand turn he just made was a 'good choice or a bad choice'.

19. You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

20. You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer. Once again, not so much a secret.

And finally...

21. You might be a teacher if you understand instantaneously why a child behaves a certain way after meeting his or her parents! It sure makes dealing with kids seem like less of a chore.

JUST SAY NO......

...to slumber parties! I've held off on starting a blog, but now feel it is my civic duty to warn others with preteen children. Maybe this will be a good forum for public warnings! I used to be strong. I used to resist the sleep over, but last night in a fit of parental guilt I caved. This is the end result. I hope Ashley had fun at her last slumber party!

But doesn't she look so sweet when she sleeps???
